The title reflects the initial ambition of those planning Milton Keynes in the 1960s, we aim to showcase examples of their inspiration from other continents. The exhibition will showcase architectural models, documents, plans, images and press coverage relating to the creation of Milton Keynes, with a focus on the big projects and concepts that have shaped the city. Family-friendly activity trails will be available throughout.

A special family-friendly day with arts and craft activities inspired by the exhibition will run on Sunday 13th of May, 11am-3pm. Free entry.

An evening of talks will be held on Thursday 17th of May, featuring Derek Walker (the first Chief Architect of Milton Keynes) and Vicky Lamburn, a photographer who has captured many beautiful images of the city. Free entry, booking highly recommended on education@mkcdc.org.uk and 01908 227229.

Picture of OU Orchestra free lunchtime concert 1:00-2:00 Friday 18 May The spring concert by the OU Orchestra will feature the concert suite from the classic film Genevieve, with the sound track immortalised by Larry Adler. It’s quite unusual to hear a piece for harmonica and orchestra. Chris Shrimpton, the soloist, lives in MK and was twice awarded Chromatic Harmonica Player of the Year at the UK’s annual harmonica festival.

The orchestra will also be playing Tchaikovsky's epic Symphony No. 4 – immortalised on the smaller screen through use of its thrilling opening in the music for TV series Ivanhoe.

Admission to the concert is free. There is plenty of free parking on site, and all are welcome to come along.

BrainoBrain is a whole brain development programme for children between the age of 4 - 15 year olds. It uses the abacus to accelerate mental
arithmetic skills of children while connecting their left and right brain
with the help of NLP and brain gym activities to achieve maximum results
in school and social surroundings.

BrainoBrain also enhances children's
visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles which helps develop
their photographic memory.

What do we cover in the free session?
Basic abacus skills with brain gym activities with a small test at the end.

We will demonstrate to parents how their children could calculate faster
using abacus skills than the traditional method. In the last 30 minutes we will be giving a presentation to parents.

LLTC present the classic English farce.

Set in the idyllic village of Merton-cum-Middlewick, where the village inhabitants are preparing themselves for the imminent threat of Nazi invasion. Resident nosy-parker and spinster, Miss Skillon, becomes convinced that her beloved vicar’s actress wife is having an affair and attempts to expose her. Add an escaped German prisoner of war, a handsome actor, the visiting Bishop of Lax, a rotund locum priest and some meddling neighbours and you have all the ingredients for a classic British comedy.

Philip King's trusty wartime farce is a classic of it's kind. Tea with the vicar, men without trousers, drunken spinster and a web of improbable coincidences.

Wheatus

Wheatus was formed by Brendan B. Brown in 1995, on the lower east side of New York City. Brown began by writing a few songs, and subsequently enlisted the help of his brother Peter Brown on drums, Philip Jimenez on keyboards, samples, percussion instruments and harmonica, and Rich Liegey on bass. The band regularly performed at a local venue entitled the Luna Lounge, until in 1999, they hired New York attorney Ray Maiello to shop their self-produced debut album to major record companies. They soon signed a record deal with Kevin Patrick at Columbia Records, and Maiello was subsequently hired as the band's manager. Their self-titled debut album was released in October 2000. The album spawned the band's first and largest hit, "Teenage Dirtbag", a song which charted at No. 2 in the United Kingdom. Their second single, "A Little Respect", also reached very high chart positions, peaking at No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart. Their third single, a double A-side of "Leroy" and "Wannabe Gangstar", didn't perform as well as expected, only reaching No. 23 in the UK Singles Chart. Another song from the album, "Punk Ass Bitch", was bought by the creators of the Jackie Chan Adventures, remixed and used as the theme for the end credits of the programme.
